4.9 View Computer Configuration
The Computer Configuration function provides detailed information about your computer
system. The information is laid out in an easy to read format all on the screen at once.
The main purpose of the information is for system diagnostics. Having this information
handy is useful when calling for technical support. To send this output to the printer,
make sure your printer is on-line, and press [Prt Scr]. Due to the number of different
manufacturers of PC compatible computers, some of the information in this section may
either be unavailable or be incorrect. The reason is that some manufacturers do not set
the addresses which contain this information properly, or they use a nonstandard format
for this data. The following information is supplied by this function:
Computer Time
Displays the computer time and allows you to change the time. You can move from
Computer Time to Computer Date by pressing [ENTER]. If you do not have authority
to change the time, then the entry box will not appear. (Format: HH:MM:SS)
Computer Date
Displays the computer date, and allows you to change the date. You can move from
Computer Date to Computer Time by pressing [ENTER]. If you do not have authority
to change the time, then the entry box will not appear. (Format: MM-DD-YYYY)
Current Directory
Displays the network/workfile path that you are currently working in.
DOS Version
Displays the current version of DOS you are running. It does not tell you if you are
running MS-DOS or PC-DOS.
Main Processor
Displays the name of the computer’s main microprocessor (i.e. Intel 8086, 80286,
80386, 80486 or higher).
Math Co-Processor
Displays whether or not the computer has a math co-processor chip (Intel 8087,
80287, 80387) installed.
Number of RS-232 Ports
Displays the number of RS-232 (serial) ports installed in your computer.
Number of Printer Ports
Displays the number of printer (parallel) ports installed in your computer.
Number of Game Cards
Displays the number of game cards (joystick ports) installed in your computer.
Mouse Type
Displays what kind of mouse you have installed in your computer.
The different kinds are:
• Bus • Serial • H.P. • InPort • PS/2
